AMPANG-KUALA LUMPUR ELEVATED HIGHWAY
In-City Driving Comfort
AKLEH is the country’s FIRST intra-urban highway envisioned as a solution to the traffic congestion along Jalan Ampang caused by the rapid development in the Ampang and Hulu Kelang vicinity. AKLEH spans 7.9km, and starts eastward from Jalan Sultan Ismail to the riverbanks of Sungai Klang and Sungai Ampang and ends at Taman Ampang Utama in Ampang. The highway provides a 3-lane carriageway for both directions from Jalan Sultan Ismail interchange to Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 interchange while the journey to Jalan Ampang interchange thereafter offers a 2-lane carriageway in each direction.
AKLEH’s open system toll plaza located at Jalan Datuk Keramat, is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities catering to the needs of urban drivers commuting to and from work. Over the years, as AKLEH became a crucial route for urban drivers, PROLINTAS has implemented various strategies to continually develop the highway, and improve traffic flow and maintenance systems.
Constant and consistent maintenance of the highway is carried out to provide motorists with the best driving experience we can offer. Maintenance activities include inspections at various key areas such as the expansion of joints, piers, generator set, Automatic Lane Barrier (ALB), and street lighting, among others.
Most recently, all street lighting at AKLEH has been converted to LED lighting making energy consumption more efficient with lower impact on the environment.
It has also included a self-service kiosk for reload purposes as part of the Customer Service Centre services, in an effort to reduce traffic congestions at the toll plaza.
Contra flow during peak hours was introduced a few years ago to reduce congestions on the highway exiting into arterial roads in the heart of the city centre or Ampang areas.
Road users wanting to reload their Touch ‘n Go cards on the go, will find the self-service kiosk at Lane 02 towards Ampang.
