KAJANG SILK HIGHWAY
Kajang SILK Highway has taken land mobility to an entirely new spectrum for the Kajang region. The 37km, 3-lane dual carriageway highway reduces traveling time between the North and South of Kajang through its 12 interchanges. It also makes to and from Kuala Lumpur, Cheras, Sg. Long, Balakong, Putrajaya, Semenyih, Bangi, KL International airports and Seremban most convenient. The highway is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities while all four (4) of SILK’s open system toll plazas are located at Sungai Balak, Sungai Ramal, Bukit Kajang dan Sungai Long.
Its main focus is to alleviate daily traffic congestions in densely populated Kajang and its vicinity. SILK’s connectivity extends beyond the region through direct links to:
• KL-Seremban Highway (NSE)
• Sungai Besi Highway (BESRAYA)
• Cheras-Kajang Highway (Grand Saga)
• Kajang-Seremban Highway (LEKAS)
• South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE)
As SILK becomes an important route for Kajang road users, PROLINTAS has implemented various strategies to continually develop the highway, and improve traffic flow and maintenance systems to meet their needs.
Constant and consistent maintenance of the highway is carried out to provide motorists with the best driving experience we can offer. Maintenance activities include inspections at various key areas such as the expansion of joints, piers, generator set, Automatic Lane Barrier (ALB), road conditions, street lighting as well as landscaping upkeep.
Most recently, SILK offers self-service kiosks for reload purposes at all its Customer Service Centre, in an effort to go cashless.
In ensuring a better traffic flow, SILK has upgraded its route from UPM to UNITEN. The route no has 3 lanes instead of 2 lanes per carriageway.
The highway had also launched the Kajang Utama interchanges thus opening up another access route to the highway.
